Does social media have an impact on teenagers' daily life?
In today's fast paced world not only society believe that social media develops addition on youth but it is also thought that using social media is useful for teenagers. Whether it is addictive or not, this might be a hotly-debated topic. This essay aims to analyse both sides of the argument in terms of mental health, social life, the excessive use of social media and try to reach a conclusion.
Firstly, concerning mental health on teenagers, it is believed that social media affects mental health in a controversial way due to several arguments. First of all, we do not seem to find any positive facts about using social media to improve mental health that is why we are going to discuss about the cons of the use of social media. Influencers post on their profiles an unreal lifestyle that has an effect on their self-esteem which causes insecurity, envy and social rejection.
Secondly, with regard to social life, it goes without saying that social life will worsen owning to the isolation in which teenagers are subjected to lolineless in real life. On the positive side, young teens, who are shy and introverted, can meet new people with the same preferences in a easier way.
Finally, as far as the excessive use of social media is concerned, it boosts the creation of a dangerous addition and emotional dependence. Apart from this, you get overestimulated which makes you agressive, irritated and upset. In addition to this, the handling of social media has an impact on your cognitive functions, otherwise you may suffer from shortage of energy in your daily routine.
To sum up, having considered both sides of the above-mentioned arguments, it is my contention that nowadays social networks have a emotional burden on the planet and it does not allow us to have a wholesome life.
